CLIENT: AWKA BABY 

Akwa Baby is an eco-conscious, unisex kids’ clothing brand, promoting a positive social narrative of self-love and confidence, inspired by African heritage.

The founders of Akwa Baby were already clear on their business strategy and the marketing fundamentals and were looking to raise investment. They reached out to Emmie for help with how best to allocate their marketing budget and what costs to expect to pay across each channel.

Emmie and the founders discussed the different marketing channels and tactics and created a 12-month marketing budget split by month and by channel. This included clarity on what to pay agencies and freelancers, and how to ensure that the budget was allocated across channels most effectively. Emmie also introduced them to some of her trusted network and suppliers for implementation and further insight.

 

What were your main challenges before working with Emmie?

We were lacking in experience with how best to present our marketing budget to potential investors. We were unsure of how to allocate marketing spend in order to complete our investment deck. 

 

What was the best thing about working with Emmie? 

Her straightforward honesty, how time-efficient she is, how well connected she is, how creatively and strategically she approaches challenges. 

 

What did you find most helpful?

The introductions she gave us and the overall marketing budget she created. 

 

In what areas do you think you saved time and money by working with Emmie?

There was absolutely no way we could have created a marketing schedule in 90 minutes or potentially with any agency – this would have been billed out as a much larger piece of work than the time Emmie was able to complete it.
